When you are face-to-face with the machine, assess its appearance. If the exterior gets a check, then proceed by asking the store attendant whether the machine parts are original. If it is not, find out what have been replaced and what remains intact. As they tell you the parts which are reproduced, take note of these and consider them against the price of the machine. Reproduced parts that are fine to go with the machine are back door, door lock, cash box, wood case, castings, and reel strips. For the castings, ask whether it is at least close to the original casting. Those which should be original to fully serve their purpose are the award card and escalators that are working and complete with holes.
Before buying a slot machine, be sure that it has the serial number on it and the attendant should be able to tell you where it is. Original slot machines possess serial numbers and if it is just a reproduced one, chances are it doesn't have its own serial number. Also, look for a working jackpot. Original slot machines have working jackpots and if the machine you are looking at doesn't have one, then maybe it is reproduced. Also, ask the attendant whether the machine have all the check detection hardware in it.
